That's why I want one, if I put it into a wall - who cares, it's a lot cheaper to fix then something new, and I really like the style of them. Im a sucker for the classics.

I sold mine close to a year and a half ago.
1991 318is w/ 170,xxx miles. Needed some fixing but nothing major. I'd say condition was 7/10. Bought it from my old boss for $500. If you can find a 318/325 for the right price then grab it. they are so much fun to beat around in. |

I would buy one for $500 even if it was missing the wheels and was sitting on blocks. I expect an e30 to be rough, bad paint ripped interior - that's all normal for a car from the late 80s early 90s |

Here's a good condition DINAN E30 M3 for 15 grand: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1988-...#ht_500wt_1182
That's a bit much. For one of those you could probably find one (non-Dinan) for around or less than $10k. But since you're looking for something cheap, you can probably get late 80's 325i's (in decent condition!) for less than $5000, probably only a couple thousand if you're willing to take one that's not in the best shape. You just gotta keep checking craigslist and ebay regularly until one pops up. You never know when someone will feel like listing it!

if you do plan on getting a e30, stray away form the m3 unless u have lots of money to spend on this said "beater".
on the e30 forums, there is a common rule called the 10k for e30 m3s. meaning that they usually plan to spend around 10k on top of purchase price to fix anything wrong with the m3. |

E36 chassis is better but E30's are still awesome. Just swap in a M50 and boost it.

A new water pump, new vacuum hoses, a new distributor cap, springs from a junkyard along with new shocks, and a day's worth of labor was all it took. Sure, it still looked like shit but it was the best beater I ever had. Got some Euro projectors and xenons so I could actually see, and I had an incredible car. It was one of the most reliable I've ever owned. Not a bad car for being 20 years old at the time. I sold it before my move across the country for $500. I probably could have asked for a bit more but I figured with the eyesore issues, it might be tough. |

I bought a 325e two months back for 600 and a full tank of gas.
Had a oil pan gasket leak and battery was dying. So far changed out spark plugs, new brakes+rotors, engine + tranny mounts, new oil pan gasket, new valve cover gasket, valve adjustment. Still need to do short shifter kit and timing belt + water pump. Great car and gets great gas mileage. Also, you want a hardtop, softtops e30s make terrible track cars. Get a coupe and put the sway bar from a vert in, it will improve the handling ten fold. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/index.php
