Why the H*LL are CF exhaust tips so expensive

I can't get my head around this. Love the way that the tips look, but they are nearly 2 grand installed. What gives?

Another question - does one need to cut the pipes for them to fit? I heard so, perhaps the labor adds up?

I've seen these on sale for *slightly* cheaper as a DIY, but I'm in no way equipped to cut anything.

As long as you buy the right size, no cutting or anything is necessary. Most tips have a clamp and you can do it in literally a few minutes.

When you realize it's mostly plastic and epoxy then your head really explodes.

On my F87, I got the CF tips from Active Autowerks with the exhaust I purchased. They yellowed within a few months. Bought $300 replacements on Ebay and they held up way better than the AA versions.

As long as they look nice, get the cheaper ones. If you have to replace them in a couple years, no big deal.

You don’t need to do any cutting, but if you don’t they stick out about 2 inches further than the stock tips. To have them look stock you need to cut.

I had them installed at my dealer and they didn’t cut anything (maybe they just didn’t know?). I haven’t decided if I like them sticking out a bit yet or not, definitely does make the rear a little more aggressive looking though

Got any pics? BTW, been following your build on some of the other threads, I bet the car looks incredible based on what you've done so far!

There are plenty of aftermarket exhaust tips for reasonable prices. It’s all bling though, and sellers know that. They’re worth what people are willing to pay, and people like paying a lot for carbon. You can try Aliexpress if you want to order from a supplier directly and don’t mind waiting a month or two.

Thanks! Here's the only pic I happen to have on hand. I'll try and get some better angles later today

Oh man, I LOVE that spec! And love those, don't at all mind that they're sticking out that much. Honestly, if it's an easy add, I may save my pennies and install myself at a later date. Those look amazing.

If you don't wanna cut, you just pop the old ones off and bolt these on, very easy. They definitely stick out more than stock but I'm used to it and still undecided.

I think they look amazing especially if you have carbon roof, spoiler and mirror caps

I wouldn't hesitate to buy some from eBay or AliExpress. This is just a cosmetic item that is way overpriced for what it is at most retailers.

Took a slightly better pic for reference. Hopefully this is useful to people searching in the future.

I had a really hard time finding out what these looked like before I bought them, these are probably the only pictures online of them on a G87 lol

My M perf CF tips came installed when I bought the car, included in the original window sticker, so installed at port or factory. Anyway, here's one picture showing how far back they look. I wouldn't change a thing.

Look nice! I had mine installed by my dealer so I'm pretty sure I could just tell them they did it wrong and have them cut it. Maybe one day

Yeah, I’m gonna try them out too. Look pretty good. I think I had a piece from this company on my F80. Was alright.
80mm for our cars, btw.
