Allocation question

So I found a dealership near me with an unclaimed allocation I wanted to claim this allocation and sent them my build and ready to put a deposit down. The issue is they said the allocation is for a x-drive and I would like a RWD, and I was wondering if it was possible for the dealership to change the allocation to RWD from x-drive?

TIA

You can't sorry to say. Had the same situation and just accepted the xDrive. My dealer said they almost never get the RWD allocations due to the location (Ohio) but Florida you would think would get them, might just have to wait a while for an RWD allocation

That may not be completely true.
I was told my CA was able to change AWD to RWD. (it is possible that they may had an extra allocation with RWD, so I say 'may').

It depends on the status of the allocation. I got someone else’s allocation but was able to change whatever I wanted until it entered production. The only way to know is to ask.

Except the engine, everything else is possible.

So can’t initially go 230i if ok with 230i but say a month into your wait can’t upgrade to 240i and respec and I am guessing moving to the back of a queue and restart wait time for order?

No, once you get an allocation you can't change the engine. You can modify other options until VIN is assigned.

If you want yo change from 230i to M240i you will have to cancel your order and make a new one.

Not,the,same

Not the same allocation. Dealers seem to have 228, 230s but nobody seems to have 240s.
Just my observations

As far as I know, the RWD and AWD cars are on separate allocations since BMW uses different internal codes for each car model and drive-type, so unless the dealer gets one of each, you can't change it.

240i XDrive has a code CM51.
What is the code for RWD?

Here's a screenshot for the NA market pricing guide, I think this was the first edition back in May/June of this year. My build sheet shows "232K" on the top of the page as well.

So it looks like 51CM and 41CM are for EU, 53CM and 43CM are for USA.
