PE MOD

Was looking into getting the PE mod done on my e93, and I just have a couple questions for the guys who have it done. Is it worth $400? How much did you guys pay? Is there a noticeable difference in sound? and How do y'all like it? Thanks!

have it done on my e92, accomplished by the previous owner. sorry can't tell you the cost but it sounds great, and noticeably different than a stock setup compared to my buddy's. sounds great on cold start, almost zero drone while cruising, and sounds great under acceleration & WOT. would say $400 is totally worth it in comparison to the price of an actual performance exhaust.

Does the exhaust actually burble a lot? That's kinda why i wanna go this route. I love the burble noises as you downshift or decelerate. LOL

I read a lot about oil burning issues with the MHD bro that's why i decided to steer away from that route.

The whole oil smoking thing was blown out of proportion. Just people chasing mechanical issues and blaming it on the tune.

Is it safe to use the MHD with stock cats? I might look into it again!

I would say.... no lol. I ran it with mids only for a while but ended up going full catless. I think you may get varying opinions on using that feature with cats, some say it will foul them and some say it's ok as long as you don't crank the duration up all the way.

I also did the pe mod but i did it myself so it was free. With that and vrsf downpipes it sounds amazing, with a good amount of burble on downshift and slowing down in gear with a little bit of tip in on the throttle. I would definitely do it again.

It still sounded good with just downpipes, but the pe mod made it a little louder, deeper and gave me the pops.

had this done on my e92, absolutely loved it. was fantastic under acceleration and almost Zero drone. as for the burbles i had plenty dude to the "Golf Tee mod" you can find it on youtube and really adds to the sound. i eventually got rid of this and sold it for $300 and it was gone within a few days.

Did it to my E92 335xi a month or so ago. For me it almost felt like it took a little bit for the sound to "break in," but now after a month it sounds amazing. I also wanted a bit more growl on the low end so I unplugged the actuator in the trunk that controls the driver's side exhaust valve (different way of doing golf tee mod) and that made it even better. I'm on stock DPs and DCI right now, but will be going catless DPs soon which should make it sound even better.

Oh and I get a decent amount of burbles in manual mode (mine's an auto) slowing in gear and tapping the throttle a bit. With MHD you'll be able to control the duration of that even more.

i just spoke with someone about getting it done for $250 in my area. Do you recommend putting less of the packing in or splitting it amongst the 2? i was going to have him follow the youtube DIY, but seems like you had exactly what i was looking for.

Def go DCI sometime soon, i bought mine last month and absolutely love the intoxicating sound of the turbo spooling. As for the MHD, i heard it's not too healthy for the car to use the burble on stock cats, that's why i'm trying to steer away from that route.

This isn't a PE mod, but I got VRSF's 3.5 inch v2 full exhaust and it's awesome.
Deep, throaty, burbly, backfire-y. No drone.
I also have VRSF CLDP's.
Since you have an E93 like I do, the exhaust needed about 2hrs of extra labor from the exhaust shop to work around our extra bracing.

Lol I already have the DCI, it was one of the first "mods" I did. I think I put that in my original post somewhere. And I'm not going MHD until after I get catless downpipes, so it'll just be the two secondary cats left on the exhaust. I'm not gonna program too much burble, as I kinda like how much there already is stock, but maybe just a second more or two, so I doubt it'll hurt the cats any more than they currently are.

I just miss the sound of my old stock 350Z exhaust hahaha, heard this makes it sound very similar with some burbles. Very excited, about it.

Would you say this draws more attention to the car as well? This car looks great, but as for exhaust noise I wasn't too impressed even with the golf tee mod.

Compared to other cars, N54's tend to sound like shit no matter what exhaust setup you have.
