The only cure on mine was to replace the steering column.

It is quite a common fault which can sometimes be cured with a re programming.

I'd chill out and ignore it. If it happens again then go to the dealers.

I've had a few odd electrical glitches (eg loss of bluetooth for a day) if they don't re-occur then I ignore em.

Hi Simon, but when i shut down and left her 5 mins i restarted and it was still there, was your issue still there after stopping/starting a few times then dissapeared?

Just had my column replaced carlos, I found hitting the edge of the steering wheel with the palm of my hand sorted it between faults.

I do that when I'm stuck in traffic on the M25
Must be a preventative measure

Sorry mate, thought you said it started fine. If the error message is still occuring then it's not just a software glitch and you will need to see the dealer.

Carlos, is it the yellow alarm or the red alarm? When I had my incident I got the yellow alarm that would clear by wiggling the steering wheel and the car would start. When it was the red alarm I'd just remove the key and come back in a few minutes. When I mentioned it to the service center they said the column sensor needed to be replaced ASAP because it was a safety issue. They also updated the software.

ive driven it once already though?! how can it be a safety issue if its a steering lock issue. Thats for locking th steering once stationary!

not once did it say, stop immediately which it would if it was dangerous? it said dont turn the car off

I suppose if the lock is faulty then there is the possibility (slim probably) of it locking while you are driving - and that would be very dangerous.

You may need to use your handbrake and powerslides to steer the car to the dealers

Doesn't it something in the handbook about red symbols

Bit optimistic expecting Carl to actually read about it.

I know this is really left-field, I almost feel foolish suggesting it ... but why not ask the dealer ? Or your Uncle ?

Or do you just not want to hear that you shouldn't drive it until it is fixed ? If you keep asking, you'll get the answer you want.

The steering lock is activated by a solenoid that powers off under power. If that is shonky ....

D.
