gas droplet that made contact with my rear fender while pumping gas what should i do?

I went to pump gas in my car today and after i was done i accidently dripped a small gas droplet on the side of the rear fender (right under the gas cap area) i was wondering if i should be worried about any paint issues that would come up? Is this going to ruin the paint? Is there anything i should do? I was only able to wipe it off with water and a dry towel, but that is all i have done. Should i do anything else? Isn't bmw paint like water paint now so doesn't it like fade more easier or something? Help me out guys with some suggestions. Thanks

Just rinse it immediately and remember to wax later. Not a big deal, especially if you regularly wax/seal your car.

My suggestion is that you relax. A lot. Maybe even go on medication.

Im sure there is worse things that hit your car from day to day driving. A droplet of gas is not a big deal.

Touching and evaporating isn't much of a risk. It's sitting on the paint in a puddle in the hot sun, boiling and baking the paint, that creates a major problem.

Be very careful what you use to wipe it down at the pump. If you use the "paper towels" that most provide, you will do more damage scratching your paint with the towel than the drop of gas ever did.

it could leave a discolouration

I'd recommend rinsing the entire paint surface with gasoline to help even it out

With continuing gas price increases, that may not be a very cost-effective option, better to repaint

ironic because i'm the guy that has an aunt who does mine for free...not the nails, but every once a blue moon, like in 1 year, eye brows?

As for the paint...uhh...LOL...just swipe it clean and move on. nothing to really worry about, as it's happened to me....

actually, now that I think about...I DID drop a few droplets on my lexus...even though I clean it right away, the paint started to bubble even before I got home...and the next day it was a mess! I tried everything I could to clean it, but man, there was something in the gasoline that reacted with the paint, and I spent countless hours trying to wax/polish it out, but ended up spending $700 to repaint the car and-

JUST KIDDING! LOL

nothing happens if you swipe it right away....

He may not be, but I am. (Although I keep it in the trunk, not the glove box). The occasional gas spill is one of the reasons to have some quick detailer around.

The gasoline evaporates soo quickly, it has NO time to damage it. I would assume it would strip w/e sealant or wax ypu ma have on the paint, so next time you wash it, wax that area a bit if you're anal about.

My technique is to sort of jiggle and tap the end of the pump while removing it from my gas tank. Then slowly put it back into the wall. Same way you shake your johnson after a drain.

Modern day automotive paint easily resists gas spills. Not to worry.
