E92 performance down due to pool of water in engine bay?
I've previously noticed a few times in the damper conditions my E92 judder a little and not be as responsive, and with the nice hot weather lately I've really been enjoying my drive & smooth engine. I last noticed that after going through a car wash the performance was a little lacking, but after a little "enthusiastic" driving all seemed to be well again.. until I was driving back from Wakefield today, it started off fine with the sunny weather but then seemed to hammer down with rain, and then I noticed a few little "blips" with the engine not being as responsive and hesitating a little so when I got home I opened the bonnet to investigate and see if I could see anything that was a little damper than I would normally expect. I found pool of water in the bottom of my engine bay (I panicked at first thinking it was oil), I've taken some pics to show you I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced or noticed the blips or the water collecting? Not sure if this is the cause but I haven't seen this on any of my previous motors.
The pool of water ran right across the engine bay but seems to have drained a little more on the passenger side. The pics were taken around 30mins after it had stopped raining.

I wouldn't worry about a little water on the floor of the engine bay. The front of the engine bay is not exactly water thight (it has a bloody big radiator and intercooler, air and moisture goes thru). And as you can see there's no drain holes, I'm also still trying to figure out where all that air that enters is leaving the engine compartment
Sorry have no answers for your power blips, have never experienced that, not even in the worst of rains. |
