New Remus Race mufflers installed. How to best get "more" sound?
I've searched and searched but just gettng confused. I'm hoping someone who knows how to help me will take pity on me and chime in...
I just installed the Remus Race Sound mufflers on my 07 E90 335xi. It is nice tone but way too mellow, not loud and mean enough! What is the best way to get more! I'm guessing downpipes. I use this car as daily driver (I have two porsches for track and sport driving), so don't want to have to switch to stock downpipes when its time to get DMV/emissions test, etc.. What should I do? what should I install next? I honestly only care about the sound (car has Dinan Stg 2 tune - plenty fast for me already...). Who knows of good sounding DP with Cats for decent price? Thanks for any help! |

Why don't you give it little more time to properly break-in...for example, my vanguard exhaust took about 2000miles of driving to fully open up.
Adding downpipes will definitely help, or adding catless midpipes will help as well. For downpipes, ar design is well known for it's quality. |

I thought the exact same thing when I got mine installed, but now that I have about 2k miles on mine, the sound has REALLY opened up! Keeping in mind that I have an N55 which is slightly louder to begin with (only one cat vs two). I doubt high flow cats will make much of a difference (in performance or sound), I would ditch secondary cats, break the exhaust in a bit, and see how you like it. From there, if you are really against catless downpipes, your only real option is to go with a more aggressive exhaust. I had the Eisenmann race on my N54, with the secondary cats removed, and it was LOOOUUUDD, as in "can't have a conversation at any RPM" loud. So I'm sure there are some setups out there that fall in-between the two. |

I cut up an e92 exhaust for my remus race setup and it sounds great with the xpipe instead of the resonator. |

Not a bad idea to break it in but if you are looking for more sound, you can always replace the centerpiping. Downpipes are going to make it real aggressive but provide a substantial power boost.

Thank you guys for help.
It sounds like swaping an an X pipe for the factory mid pipe reasonators is the next step. Where to source that from? Or should I have my exhaust shop make an X pipe custom for me? Thanks!!
