Might be a good idea to have the car's diagnostics read to see if any errors come up.
But, I think safest is to have the oil and filters changed with the correct grade and quality and see if this helps. These engines need good quality oil for best results, and also based on your climate, so best is to consult your nearest service agent for the recommended spec of oil. Hope this helps! |

Dirty injectors? Chevron techron...search
__________________
If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

Clean up the vanos solenoids, which are probably all jammed due to dirty oil- there is a do-it-yourself on it (DIY section), but if they are jammed, it would show a code. If the valve cover gasket is leaking, oil may have reached up to spark plugs and ignition coils, which need to be changed after the valve cover gasket. Get the BMW-specific codes read to figure out what needs changing/cleaning.
