Hankook V12 owners come chime in
Looking to go to the V12s. I've always been a Conti kind of guy and loved them in every way. I'm now going through too many tires too fast.
Tell me what you like and dislike about the V12s. I've seen that they don't last very long and they may not be ask quiet as claimed. I've never experienced the V12s personally. Thanks in advanced

I used to have them on my stock staggered 18's. I liked them a lot. They were quiet, but wore fast. About 10K and the rears were shot. Good bang for the buck though.
I'm on the Conti DW now and feel the V12s were a little stiffer in the turns.. which is a good thing to me...

v12's have terrible grip ..in the rain I feel unsafe with them. they slide around and seem to hyrdroplane too easy. even in the dry weather it's not hard to make the back end kick out.

Both the V12 and the Falken FK453s are great budget tires. I might go with the Falkens over the V12s though. The V12s due wear fast and their last 40% of tread loses a lot of grip.

I ran Hankook Ventus V12s a couple years ago and really liked them. They were quiet, offered pretty good grip for the type of driving I was doing, and lasted me a decent while. I also liked that they were directional and symmetrical, so I could flip them when I needed to, which is great for cars that are running more aggressive negative camber.
What I did not like was the sidewall stiffness. They were so soft that I ended up developing bubbles in a pair of them. The front two were virtually unusable after a short amount of time, which bummed me out. Also, when you push them to their limits, they do leave a bit to be desired. For a cost effective summer performance tire though, they are a great bargain.

I've had my Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's for a while, and they've held up quite well. Before putting my replacement rears on, I even tried riding them into the ground, and they still didn't fail me (went through the rubber). Personally, I like em, and for the price, you really can't beat em.
Car & Driver did a test years ago on budget tires.... using an E92 as the test car. The V12's came in 2nd. http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...mparison-tests

Hate to bump this but better than starting a new one... Any complaints with your DW's? I'm in the market for new tires for this summer and really don't want to spend the coin on PSS if I don't have to. I figure since i'm xi I don't need the absolute best gripping tire in the world. I had the V12's on my last set of wheels and they only lasted two summers with no tracking or anything. Other than that no real complaints. How do you like the DW's in terms of treadwear, comfort, sidewall stiffness, etc..?

I've read some people going through the DWs within 10k miles. Any one here with experience?
DWs are less than $50/tire cheaper than PSS. I just don't see any incentive to go with DWs unless they last at least 30k. |

I'm about to order the DW's as well. I had a question about how meaty they are compared to the Hankooks. I've read the PSS is a meaty tire. I'm getting a semi aggressive set up for the rear and want to avoid having to roll the tires.

Not sure how to answer that... Two totally different tread designs. The V12s are meatier IMO. I liked them, but they didn't last long.
