Sure it's oil and not just road grime? I have seen this on mine and we weren't convinced that it was the diff oil. However we tightened the bolts a little just in case. You can try to clean it with brake cleaner and then go for a drive when its dry. Should make it easier to see if its leaking.

If its under warranty - why not? I'm a bit surprised its weeping at 2 yrs old.

I had exactly the same. Quick fix under warranty means free fresh oil change and gasket

This is what I'd do.

No gasket in there! Sealer all the way in these diffs, and its only a weep so warranty won't pay because its not dripping.

Jonny, I'm no mechanic, so seal/gasket I dont know. What i do know is that mine was done under warranty no problem earlier this year.

I have the same thing on mine, except the whole bottom part looks wet/covered in oil.

My car has been like it ever since I had it (purchased second hand from BMW at 18 months old).

I have asked BMW to look at it on 2 occasions and both times they said it fine (they have asked if I have an oil patch on my drive, which I don't). Hope they haven't fobbed me off.
