It happens. Just take this experience as a lesson learned and move on to another dealership.

I'm new, but I got here because of the same problems I think. Two days ago I was at the track with my bone stock 335i AT Sedan with sport pack, with the BMW oil cooler, I took it in for the first 25 min session and the car took it like a champ, then waited for 30min and took it for a second 25min session, again the car was impressive keeping up with M3s and all, drove of the track let the engine idle for 10 min with the hood open to let everything cool down a little, the temp gauge was reading two notches north of 250 by then, turned of for 20 min, then came my turn to go into the track for the third time. Turned the car on, temp was below half, gas was a notch over 1/4, so I drove into the course, 3 laps in the famous engine malfunction message comes up in the dash and the idrive, power goes down so I slow down and pit, drove of the track shut it down and waited 10 mins, went online on my phone and started searching for help. One of the post that I'm sure some of you might be familiar with stated the car should not be driven hard with less that 1/2 a tank (sounded like BS). So I turned the car on to get some fuel and the light was gone both in the dash and the iDrive, nevertheless I pumped some gas and returned to the track, 2 laps latter the message came back on (reduced power engine malfunction blah blah blah) so once again I drove of, turned it off waited for 30 min turned it back on the again the light was of so I headed home. Now ever since that day the car hasn't given the message again and cranck is instanteinuos but the power is down, not like when it went into limp mode but definitely less power than usual. I already made an appointment with the dealer to have it checked, but I wanted to get some feedback so I'm not easily fooled once I'm there.
BTW the HPFP on mine was recently replaced under recall (no symptoms, I just got a letter and took it to the dealer 2 weeks ago) so was 3 of the injectors and the filters and I only use 93 fuel. Any word on this?

i originally bought my car from BMW of Bayside. The realized they're prices are insane because they are a decently small dealership. So i went to rallye, and they have the best service department by far!

sorry to hear man... i would take it in if you feel loss of power hopefully its not mental but the code IS stored in your iDrive (assuming as you said arent running a tune that auto deletes the codes).... I take my car to Park Ave and havent had a problem

Ive only been to bayside twice, once to replace an RFT under the tire & wheel warranty, and the 2nd time for oil change and recall work. They did both in a timely fashion and I didn't have any problems. Guess it's different experiences for different people. Just like BMW of Manhattan, I hear all the horror stories and still took my old 335xi there, and never had any of the problems everyone else experienced...

I go to JMK in route 22 and they have been more than accomodating. Bit of a ride from Brooklyn but I'll drive anywhere to make sure competant hands work on my car.
