I have one Bridgestone rft size 225/40/18 that has a 1.5 inch gouge in the side wall. It didn't penetrate the tire, but honestly I don't know how deep it is. It looks like it's just cosmetic but I am unsure. The only part that was damaged is rubber from the "rim protector/lip". The tire was damaged when it was taken off by a local shop who doesn't know how to handle RFTs. Of course they denied it but it wasn't there before.

Other than that there is nothing wrong with this tire. it has about 80%-90% of it's tread left.

While it looks cosmetic, I would like to stress that I am not sure if the integrity of the tire has been compromised and will not be held liable for any damages.

With that said it's still a free tire. You're more than welcome to come pick it up and ask your local shop if this tire is still any good. Might save yourself a few hundred dollars. Just don't want it to go to waste, considering the tread left.
