Need help on tire size for a 335xi.

What's Up Fellas,

I'm most likely getting a 335xi. I currently have a Infiniti G35 Coupe and have a set of tires from the car that I purchased for winter and nearly spent $1k on them and hoping I can use them on the bmw.

My question is, can I use my tires on the 335xi without having problems with the AWD? Here are the size:

Front: 225/45/18

Rear: 255/45/18

The BMW is a 2007 335xi sport package w/the 18" wheels.

Appreciate any help/advice.

Thank You

Looking forward to my stay and modifying the 3 series.

Since your OEM tires are 40 series in the front and 35 series in the rear, I'm betting they'll rub unless you use spacers and/or roll the fenders.

^ thanks for the reply,

Spacers is not the issue and rolling fenders I can also take care of myself... I am more worried about have such different profile's from oem specs that it may throw of the AWD and have all sort of different problems.
I have a friend with a awd g37 and once tires/rims were mixed the awd would go crazy and won't let him pass 60mph and other weird difficulties with the car.

I see. Yes that is a concern. There are a few other threads in this section that recommend that you stay within 1% rolling diameter difference. The wheel calculator at the top of the this section will help.

Unfortunately the G35 runs a bit taller of a sidewall then E9x BMW's so it will not work. I especially would not recommend going outside the recommended diameter since you have an AWD car.

225/40 and 255/35 would be the proper sizes.

bump for this, I need help... A person that has experienced this or done it this way so its a fact!

I blew out a tire last night on the belt (fml i just purchased it a week ago) so I need to put on a new tire in the front. Since I do have (2) new blizzaks I wan't to make a use of them in size 225/45/18. If all is well I am planning on re-using them in winter time.

My question is, what is the worst that can happen using that tire size and 255/45 in the rear, besides the spedo being a little off.

Thank You.

ok so here its you need to stay as close as possible to the side that you have in the other side ( rear or front ) you can do a stagger set up on any AWD car but the overall diameter of the tires needs to be close (why) it has nothing to do with your speedometer but your traction and transmission you will drive the dif crazy and start braking stuff in the long run. so if you are running 2254518 you rear should be 2554018 to keep the almost the same overall diameter. any other questions PM me I am know about rims and tires.

Planning on going with the wheels specs below, would a 255/40 and 275/35 work with 335XI?

Wheel Diameter (Inches) - 19"
Wheel Width (Inches) - 8.5/10"
PCD Bolt Pattern - 5x120
Offset - +30F, +37Rmm
Hub Bore - 72.6mm

Im guessing linea corse 818's? Your not going to be able to fit a 255 up front without fender work. 235/35-19 shouldn't rub up front. On the rear 275/30-19 should fit fine.

Yes, those sizes are perfect

That keeps the overall diameter between both the front and the rear tires almost exactly the same

anything < 1% difference between front and rear tire overall diameter is fine
