I would have to say Tri-Flo, or B&B... I had one on my E36, and holy sh*t that thing was loud.

Loud enough to set off car alarms at the slightest blip of the throttle, and it was just a loud rumble. got a few exhaust tickets with it. So I'm assuming their E90X version will be just as obnoxious.

That must have been annoying in the cabin after a while haha. Never heard of them though.

I bought the electric cutout, y-pipe, and turn down from jegs. I had the muffler shop remove the resonator and weld in a y pipe to connect the two pipes running from the engine. Then that fed into another slightly different y-pipe (sort of like a straight piece of pipe with a piece that branched out at an angle.) then one outlet went on to the muffler and the other was connected to an electric valve controlled by a switch i mounted in the center console.

I loved it because i could chose to either run a classy stock exhaust or a loud and aggressive exhaust at any given time. It offered no real performance gains on my n/a n52 but it would be fantastic for the n54. It is basically straight pipes or stock controlled by a switch.

Just an FYI--

The reason why exhausts are not exceeding 95db is so that they would be compliant with California state law, which tends to follow federal law:

Thanks to a new SEMA-sponsored law, California automobile hobbyists are now better equipped to fight unfair exhaust noise citations issued by state law enforcement officers. Legislation recently signed into law by Governor Gray Davis to provide for a statewide exhaust noise testing program will allow motorists to prove they comply with state noise standards.

The new law requires smog check stations that provide referee functions to perform the test. These referee stations will issue certificates of compliance for vehicles when tests of their exhaust systems demonstrate that they emit no more than 95-decibels, under Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) test procedure J1169. Only those vehicles that have received a citation for an exhaust noise violation will be permitted to submit their vehicle for the test.

The law also allows courts to dismiss citations for exhaust systems that have been tested and for which a certificate of compliance has been issued. Fees charged to motorists for the certificates of compliance will pay for the testing program.
