PLEASE HELP : Steering wheel badge replacement <<<<<
Hello all,
I was about to change my steering wheel logo/badge, but it did not want to get out. The glue is too strong, so I had to resign changing it due to scratching the steering wheel. Do you have any ideas how to take the old logo out ? Or should I just stick the new one on the top of the old one ? Would it look ok ? Thanks, Mat

Yeah they are pretty well attached to the airbag cover. I ended up having to replace the airbag on my e46 m3 because the badge was all messed up

Putting one on the top of the other looks really nice. Even nicer than the standard setup I will post some photos soon

Any pics? I have a new carbon badge to fit on the steering wheel but it is a 'stiff' design (not a normal decal) and if stuck over the top of the oem badge will not curve to fit properly and look silly with a gap all around the edge. Is this how yours is? Where did you purchase yours? |

My badge is excatly the same as the OEM one and it looks like this :
I have purchased it on eBay for about 5 pounds or so. Here is a nice one : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Carbon...item415b145085

Looks great, I just bought same one from Ebay £6.99 but I took my old one off first ..Doh! It's just tin and quite easy to get off but where the new one goes It's not smooth it has ridges so I just hope it will fit on ok as it's an adhesive fit. Have heard that taking the old one off will mess with the airbag, I can't see how but if anyone knows can you please explain.
Little bit worried now, will let you know when the new badge arrives. |

the original one has metal tabs that hold it to the airbag, a real PITA to remove. best bet is a "stick on" replacement on top of the old one. a new stick on one wont stick very very well if you remove the original one anyway!

That's how I understood it too - steering wheel badge replacement is too difficult to be worthwhile, so just buy a decal to stick over your exisiting badge.

Yes, putting one on the top of the other gives nice effect. I think it looks better than it was before. It kind of sticks out a little
I have my SE steering wheel and airbag for sale, so if anyone is interested just PM me The reason for selling it is that I bought M-Sport steering wheel with airbag. Superb condition and obviously never deployed as i had no crash since the car was new.

Mine came yesterday and just took the old one off with a flat knife, comes off quite easy, but the new one does not stick as it's not a flat surface underneath so I just did a few mods with it, looks great but I wish I had kept the old badge on and just stuck the new one on that..Hope this helps

Yes, you could have put one on the top of the other. Looks better than just one on. You can always use some glue to stick the new one on if you have taken the old one off. Post some pics if you can
