Is my transmission beginning to fail?
When I come to a stop it feels like the car lurches forward at the very moment the car comes to a stop. I really don't know how else to explain this. It doesn't matter if I come to a nice slow/controlled or abrupt stop. I will still feel the car lurch.
Also, when I put the car into neutral just as I'm about to come to a complete stop the car won't lurch. It will stop like it supposed to without the lurching. I hope this made sense I appreciate any feedback!

My suggestion would be to read the codes if you have access to a cable or take to an indy to get those read. Once codes are known, then at least it will point to some direction.

My car does the same thing (07 335i). I believe it's a programming issue and not a transmission problem. Has something to do with the tranny disengaging to save fuel. Apparently updating the control modules with the latest software fixes the problem. It doesn't have this problem in steptronic, correct?

From my understanding this is not transmission but can be. I've owned many BMWs and this happened to a few of mine. Did you do any brake jobs recently? This happened to me when i did JUST the front pads and rotors neglecting the rear. Car seems to JUMP at a stop light. I replaced the rear and it was fine.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger
