Having replaced 7 of these frikkin things (seriously, why do E92's eat these bulbs?), thought you lot might need a heads up, chap on ebay is doing packs of ten W16W bulbs for under a tenner.

never had a prob with mine, are you using cheap bulbs? I seem to remember my dads old E39 eating bulbs as he kept buying them from petrol stations!

Kept paying £6 a throw for Osram ones, and made no difference at all. SO I've bought em cheap, stacked em deep, as it were......

It's not just me then......................
exact same problem must have changed at least 6 in the last 18 months so I too bought 10 from same company last week. (they did send me only one initially but rectified it straight away - simple error on their part) when I put the one they did send me in the other one blew!!! never known anything like it bulb wise & more often than not its the drivers side |

I had a faulty bulb holder in mine that was changed through warranty so maybe that could be the problem. The dealer said they check all the e92's now as it is a common problem.

Same as some others. BMW replaced both my rear light bulb holder units under warranty, common fault is they corrode and cause issues. No issues since

makes you wonder how they could corode as there's no water or salt from winter roads getting in there.
would have thought that the corrosion can throw a fault code thinking the bulb has blown but not actually blow the bulb repeatedly like mine has. the corrosion must be in the very small part where the bulb goes that you cant really see as I cant see any anywhere else. you would think that after all these years a problem like this should never occur on the scale it does & the bulbs themselves are of a piss poor design IMO. I'm sure I coud design a better one that these capless things that have minimal contact area. |

Mine was in for a service, I knew the bulb had gone but hadn't got around to changing it, anyway the stealer kindly offered to change mine for £18!! I should name and shame!
£300 odd for a service and they want even more for a £1 job! |
