I put CF vinyl on mine without removing the silver part from the rest of the knob. Just use a heat gun to stretch it into place, then use a razor blade or x-acto knife to cut along the groove. Its actually very easy, I've done two of them so far (including my own car). Give it a shot. The great thing about vinyl is that if you screw up or don't like it, you can just peel it off!

i dont know about that know but the standard pre-lci knob if you just use a flat head screw driver you can just pop it out easily.
I advise AGAINST doing that though cause it breaks the clips on it. |

This is also true for the Pre-lci and the clips will most likely break. When i did mine I covered it in CF fabric and the fabric had enough thickness to not need all the tabs. It just held itself in place.

Make sure you stretch the vinyl to go into the groove between the leather and metal parts (a heat gun will help a LOT). I did this to mine and you can't see any of the ends where the vinyl was cut. Good luck!
