As far as I know, it was an option. If you don't have that option, you can't.

Open the passenger door and look at the side of the dashboard, the control for the passenger airbag is situated there.
It is on my E92 anyway. |

Got an airbag warning light nr the reading lights at the front? If not ou dont have the option.
Switch is on the side of the dash as you open the passenger door. |

It was an option on early E9x as part of the then optional front passenger seat isofix points.
If you don't have front isofix, then you can't switch off the front airbag. |

Thanks chaps - I was wanting to switch the airbag off, as I was wanting to stick the little one in the front - little bugger's got a habit of pulling the door handle when on the move!
I can't find a switch, mind <confused> |

Can't you turn on the child locks on the rear doors then just hit the central locking button on the dash? He could then pull away to his heart's content and the door wouldn't unlock.

Don't even need to press the central locking - if the child lock is on then it can't be opened from the inside whether the door is locked or unlocked.
If the car does not have the key-switch accessible with the passenger door open then the airbag cannot be disabled on an ad-hoc basis.

My thought exactly, if the child is big enough to reach the door handle then they'd be in a forward facing seat? - So you don't need to disable the airbag in that case.

As said, child seats don't fit well with the Sport seat bolsters anyway (in fact never found one that lists the front of a 3 series as 'approved', or if it does it excludes sports seats)
Our little goes in the front of my van to nursery, but that's got no passenger airbag anyway ![]() .... side / curtain airbags are much more important IMO, are these disabled by the 'off' switch too? Last edited by doughboy; 12-14-2011 at 04:49 AM.. |

I couldnt get a seat to fit the front Msport seats, and the rear seat sin the coupe don't do that with isofix either. I ended up with a Recaro Young Sport because its one of the few seats that sat on the bench properly.
I also got totally stuffed because the first two Coupes I looked at were SE spec and had the airbag switches on the passenger side of the dashboard. So when I bought my 335D I didn't even look, and yes, its an option, an option which my bloody car didn't have...... Can't believe an airbag switch is standard kit on a £15k Ford Focus, but an option on a £40k BMW.... |

He's turning 2 next month. The seat we bought him was from Mama's an Papa's (don't ask me which one) - However, I'm certain the E90 spec sheet shows ISOFIX as standard on all cars - but for the life of me, I can't locate the 2 bars in between the back seats. So, to get him steady, we had to buy an flat base to sit his seat on. This elevates him a higher and he sometimes releases his arms from his baby seat belts and tries at the handles.
We rarely take my car with him in it -as the wife's Mazda has a ISOFIX - but on the odd long drive - we take mine. I never realised there was a latch on the door to disable the back handles altogether. |

Vaheed1,
If its forward facing then theres no need to disble the airbag. Re isofix, it was only EU compulsory from about 2007 I think, in 06 it was an option (£40?) on my E90. If you have front ISOFIX you WILL have the disable switch, thats law too. |
