I don't recommend driving a BMW to Big Bear. There are some idiots can't stop their vehicle while sliding down on the icy road, and they're likely to hit your car.
Use your clunker car or rent a car.

I had the same lip on my wife's e93 and I don't recommend talking it to Big Bear.
The lip alone adds about an additional inch drop in the front. You'll be a snow plower! |

About 20 years ago, I was driving down the mountain road near Boulder Bay (near Big Bear Lake). I was driving my 1968 Jeep Wagoneer 4x4 (real U.S. Steel built, heavy duty). The road was so icy (black ice?) and I could NOT stop as it was sliding into an opposite direction of the road. I crashed into an incoming Volkswagen Fox at about 5-10 mph. The Fox car was totalled. My Jeep had only cute scratches on the chrome-plated bumper.
Well, that is why I don't recommend you guys to drive your beautiful BMW cars on snowy, mountain roads. You'll never know that you might hit by a big 4x4 truck or SUV. If you like to go up in the mountains often, especially during the winter time, you should consider a 4x4 vehicle like Jeep. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 and I love it! I also drive my 335i, but I don't take it to Big Bear.

Here's a good example that happened to a BMW owner on a snowy road.

I wouldn't take your car to big bear. Its sitting to low to be driving up to bear. Plus there's always drivers coming/going from bear that just don't know how to drive on the icy road.
Had some idiot trying to pass me & some friends in a truck before and slid right into us. Luckily we had a truck. |
