Meyle HD v. BMW M3 Control Arms???
Could anyone tell me the benefit of going with BMW M3 control arms over the Meyle HD control arms? The Meyle HD arms are like $50 cheaper than the BMW M3 arms. Plus if I go with the Meyle HD arms from OEM Bimmer Parts the shipping is cheaper than ECS Tuning.
Thoughts??

What I can contribute is that they were very stiff. It could be that mine had a poor installation, Herold believes that was the case, but I still found them very stiff and I had a very reputable shop install them.
I can't wait to hear more about the HD version, my hope is that they slot nicely right in between stock and M3. Thank you for starting this thread!

Fraggy just to clarify your comments which ones were stiff? The M3 arms?

You could get just the M3 tension strut and not the M3 control arm. This will relocate the wheel hub back a little (the M3 tension strut is longer), not sure what effect that has. To be safe, get the M3 control arm too. Negative camber should increase grip in front, and it will also increase steering effort a little (15%?). The rubber bushings in the M3 arms are stiffer, letting more vibration and kickback through the steering wheel. This usually makes people feel that the car is riding stiffer, steering vibration is perceived as part of the ride quality. I personally don't feel much of a difference as compared to the original arms. The Meyle product uses the same arm but with a "heavy duty" bushing. I don't know more about it. It won't change camber / geometry like the M3 arms do.

^^ Exactly what I was looking for. Looks like I will be placing an order for the Meyle HD arms. Only my left is leaking, but am doing both arms.

The HD version can be just the bushings only, a cheaper alternative to the complete arms. Harold Complete HD arms should be about $175 for the pair before shipping. |

Well new tension arms will be waiting when I get some. I'll try and snap a few pics of the new ones and the old ones once I get them off.
