CF Trim

Many moons ago, Wafik stuck some pictures up on here of his awesome white cf trim. I liked the job so much that i asked him if he would agree to sort me out with some of my own (and no doubt he has for other members too?)

Anywho.. I though I should get some pictures up, as after a few weeks of having it in, the car has FINALLY had a clean and is in a suitable state for human viewing!!

Massive thanks to Wafik for this, he turned them around in under a week and they were back on the car in no time.. i'd also like to give big kudos to Mike Harmsworth @ Sytner Sunningdale who organised whipping them all off, and posted them off while the car was off the road with them for a week.. very impressive service, and only charged me the p+p

Sorry for the slightly poo pictures, i only have a camera phone (HTC Desire), but it still looks cool! I really like the contrast with lemon (nicotine) yellow!!

considering some black speaker covers too, what do people think?

Looks nice, and goes extremely well with that interior.
I did mine a couple of weeks ago too.

Pretty easy to work with - 3M Di-noc
You should see all the other finishes they make, quite amazing.

The front tweeters - is that oem?

indeed..

i have been thinking about this for yonks, but the reason i went for black cf was that is one of the 'rarer' OEM styles.. (albeit on the m3)

maybe someone could get a gold wrap done??!

p.s. front tweeters are alpine upgrade without the alpine stickers

I hope the corners are all glued back on the return edges though.

Faux pas I made with the first piece I did - the corners start to shrink in with hot weather

by gluing i guess you mean go over it with the heat gun to melt the adhesive?

if so, then yep!

Erm no, thats not enough on the corners where the angle is acute.
It WILL pull back in the sun. I just superglued the corners back on mine.

the vinyl goes right round the corners then under high heat to actually melt the vinly together from inside so it does not shrink

If BGM's trim that i did ever did shrink, id be happy to re-do it

Not entirely sure I understand, do you have a photo as I may be able to re-do it better on my next attempt.
Sounds like the 5mm return is not enough and I guess you took that right back to the outer edge of the panels and sealed together?

Thanks a lot

Yeahh 5mm is far too little, it would definatly start To shrink. What u can do is cu some strips of the vinyl and lay it over the edges so it gives a larger sticking surface from behind. Hope that made sence?

When I did mine I found putting a good stretch on the back edge and then wrapping it round the back of each piece gave good results.

Havent had a single item lift or shrink yet.
