Hi,

I am looking to replace my brake rotors soon, and instead of OEM, I would like to do a small upgrade to brakes if possible. I also want to improve the look a bit, by using slotted rotors (preferably). I was looking at the EBC slotted and dimpled rotors combined with EBC Yellowstuff pads, but they are a bit more expensive than OEM (20% more) and I read about some operating noise. I also don't like how their rotors look. They have two designs and none of them looks properly.

Any other companies you know from Europe able to provide OEM-quality slotted rotors at OEM prices ?

TarOx do the G88 slotted for the 335i.

Sorry, those are too ugly But from what I see, they do make some "Japan Sports" model which looks better.

I know its a stupid question, but how noisy?
Draw attention at a traffic light in the high street or just a noticeable rumble when pushing hard?

Had them on my 530d. (Slotted USR's and Yellowstuff) Intrusive noise, but not loud outside. Better when hot, worse when braking gently, say when approaching an island under normal conditions, and not going quickly.

Wouldn't have them again. No braking performance gain - on the road at least!
Would have the pads again though, the lack of dust is amazing.

Cost wise - 3 years ago, the setup was cheaper than OEM, but dearer than EuroCarParts standard equivalent.

I've had the EBC dimpled and slotted discs. Under heavy braking you get a slight whiring sound and when driving with the wheels free you get a 'chuff chuff' sound as the slots rotate through the air. I coupled these with Ferodo DS2500 pads and the thing stopped on a penny with no fade but those pads are only for track...apparently and come with no wear sensors. I had to cut the wires from the OE pads, solder the wires up together and then plug the connector into the car loom to trick it and keep the dash warning light off.

Yellow stuff is for track use I think, reds are more suited to fast road.
