Halogen to Xenon Conversion Problems
So approx. a year ago, I purchased the Halogen to Xenon kit from *******. This kit included 2 xenon headlights, and the wiring harness (including capacitors) which were said to not cause the ECU to throw codes.
Immediately I knew there was something wrong, after tightening down the headlights, I went to switch them on, and only one turned on. In addition to that I get the big headlight picture on my dash when initially turning on the car, which eventually subsides and turns into the small ! in the corner for the display. After turning the lights off, and back on, the other headlight lit up as well. So I assumed all is well. Nevermind that I had the error code on the dash, I was just happy to have my new headlights installed. I took the vehicle to the dealer and had them adjust the height of the beams, and go over the install, which they said looked really clean. A year later and I'm still experiencing a problem with one headlight, or on some occasions, both headlights not illuminating. This is becoming not only a safety issue but today I was pulled over for having a headlight out, and the cop did not want to hear any part of the story, even when the other light came on after I switched the lights off then back on. This is becoming a bit rediculous now, as I have to get out of the vehicle after starting it to make sure both lights are on. I'm still having the errors when starting the car, and drive around with a '!' in the corner. I'd like to know what I can do to fix this, short of having to put my halogens back in. I want to specify a bit more. After watching my car in a mirror, when the light fails to turn on, I can see it flicker, then turn off, really quickly, the angel ring stays illuminated. Ultimately, if this is a problem with the way the harness was designed, or if the capacitors are failing, I'd like to see ******* address this with me. I've removed the bumper and the headlights, checked all the wiring, and reinstalled. Still same issue. When I receive my service details from my dealer, the codes read something like "L Low Beam Fail, R Low Beam Fail" or something to that extent... Please help me!! Thank you! EDIT: Why is E 9 0 A n d y's name being *'d out? Last edited by BOSSBMW; 12-29-2009 at 10:20 AM.. Reason: dumb |

Similar issues and more...
I recently purchased a Depo Projector 90 Xenon conversion kit. Although I was "error free", one Xenon bulb burned out after only a few starts. I eventually converted back to halogens - although sticking with the new headlights. My current issue is that the fully installed headlights are "way" out of alignment, and the two alignment screws only make a minor difference. The lights focus about 15' infront of the car, and I really can't even drive it in the dark. At the moment - except for good looks - these lights are useless...

The cheap "ebay HId" and "$35" HId kits out on the market are truely garbage. If your looking for a kit that works we offer a real solution. |

mine did. The xenon would do a really quick flicker before turning itself off.... I checked the bulb out and noticed white powerderish build up on the outside(like close to the middle of the casing).
