ipod not working?
Hi
Basically I have a 2007 335i and have connected a 3-4 year old ipod to the cable in the glove box. When the car is on the ipodlights up and shows the BMW logo on the screen but that is as far as it goes. None of the buttons work on the ipod and I can't find any way to access it through the menus. Any suggestions? Cheers |

I don't know about pre LCi but with the LCi models the glove box USB is only for upgrading the Sat Nav software and loading tracks onto the Pro Sat Nav - the armrest USB / AUX is the one for iPod connection.

Correct - but you don't need to use the AUX at all on the LCi models, just the standard Apple / USB lead.

Correct- the USB in the armrest, if the car has one, is the correct one.

You can only connect IPod using the AUX IN Jack point in Armrest - you will need an Aux In->Aux In cable to connect it. - Unless ofc you have the USB connection in Armrest as well [altho my 57 plate doesnt have this ]
Using the IDrive Controller set the Entertainment Source to 'AUX IN' Once you have done that connect the IPod using the Armrest jack and you can control playing tracks only from the Ipod - It won't display Tracks on the IDrive Screen but should play the music through car's speaker system. Buttons on Steering Wheel only allow you to increase Volume only - any other things like changing tracks AFAIK you can only do this from the IPod itself. Oh. That makes sense then. So the cable in the glove box is not for the ipod even though it is an ipod shaped adapter?

If you have the iPod connector in the glovebox you have the after market set up another indication is the BMW logo on the iPod, you don't get they with the 6FL option. Have you tried a iPod reset yet? or another iPod . Just had a thought the aftermarket set up works on the 6 radio presets and relies on playlists try getting hold of a manual sorry not much more help as I have the 6FL option.

It is meant to only have 1000 songs in total on the iPod. Keep that in mind. It does work with more as long as you don't mind random to get to your tracks lettered with m or latter.
Some people have complained that it can take ten mins for their iPod to load track names. Try the reset suggested before and then Try someone else's iPod. Does the your iPod work normally with headphones attached.

This is confusing. I will try to sort it today and try the rest option first. The ipod does work fine when not attatched to the car. I will also try thr radio presets route after reset.
I'll let you know if I have any joy. |

Good
Point I have made a few assumptions. Do you have idrive. The menu to look for is in enternatianment under CDC, cd changer. Each of the 6 CDs is a different playlist from the iPod. If this is what you meant and don't have the manual. I will try and scan part of the manual for you.
