help! found liquid on cylinder 3 spark plug base
was changing my spark plug earlier. on cylinder 3, the coil pack boot is soaked. there's a pool of liquid between spark plug and coil pack. it looks like coolant but it doesnt smell sweet. could also be gasoline or oil mixed together.
i never got any code. anybody got ideas??? i started the car after the plug change, idles ok, havent driven it since i am concerned about it. do i have gasket leak? injector leak? help! |

it would be charred if it was gas/oil. If it's liquid, I would say coolant. I had the same problem on my Audi TT, replaced the head gasket and it was fine after that. I'm not sure how hard it is to replace on the N54 though.

Did you spill any oil while refilling it? That's where oil typically goes if you miss the hole in the valve cover. Probably nothing to worry about, but if you want, post a pic.

You could have just spilled some oil while changing the oil. I did this to my car. Cleaned up the oil and it never appeared anymore.

i probably did spill a little bit of oil when filling it.
that would explain the oil colored liquid shown in this picture. but would that show the green-yellow liquid at the base of the spark plug ? i couldn't take a picture of said liquid in the hole because it's dark. the coil was wet on the bottom part but dry on the top part. |

Not sure why the color on the plug would be green-yellow, but the pic you posted definitely looks like a bit of spilled oil, nothing more.
