Meth

Question to all that know about meth! Lol. I currently have COBB Accessport using stage 1, but I'd like to buy a JB4 and the integrated meth kit. Issue is warranty and the dealership. Is it simple to install and uninstall? Is it traceable? Is there a way to hide it? Any additional parts I would need to buy? Why do many people incorporate both the COBB and the JB4? Should I just get the non integrated meth kit and no JB4? Everyone's opinion is welcomed and noted. If you have any experience with this please share your story! Thanks in advance.

There are instructions on www.burgertuning.com.
For warranty, when in doubt take it out. All dealers and SA handle cars differently.

You dont need JB4 to incorporate methanol into Cobb, that guys that do it tend to have upgraded turbo's and other needs like extra fueling and boost support.

Jeff,
I see that. Yet I feel as if they're instructions are a bit confusing and I'm looking for people who have incorporated this kits in their own vehicles. Is it recommended I use the JB4+meth and continue using the COBB? COBB stage 1 aggressive gets 14-16psi at times (I've logged it), while I have been told the JB4 on map 1 received a conservative 11-13 psi. Should I just use the COBB and the non integrated kit? Which is easier and which has better performance in terms of 0-60 and 1/4 mile runs. I'm not looking to add an IC, DCI or DP's.

I agree you don't need the jb4, but I love mine.
For me I was a bit confused with installing my fsb. Meth kit pretty simple.
I think after you install it you'll realize how easy it will be to quickly remove it all.
If you do go with jb4 I'm sure you'll be more than happy..... And he has the best customer service.
I waited less than 2 mins after sending e mail questions for answers
Anyway good luck with it all, your gonna love it whatever way you go

Rule of thumb dont ever buy a meth kit without a failsafe. The Jb4/FSB is a very simple install uninstall. Once you get the hand of it you will be able to remove both items within 15 mins.

Ok. When installing, would I have to cut any OEM wires to compensate for the meth kit? Should I sell my Accessport and buy a JB4+meth kit? I have a friend locally who has a JB4 and I'm installing it sometime soon to compare the powers of both units without meth.

Hmm perhaps you need to a little more research on the purpose of methanol. Ideally the purpose is to add cooling and octane benefits which would in turn allow you to run more aggressive ignition and boost. Without doing the latter you wont find much in the realm of gains. Said a little bit easier, running methanol on stage 1 cobb is a waste of money.

Keeping that in mind if you were to keep your Cobb you would likely want to go to Stage 2 or Stage 2+ mapping to take advantage of methanol.

You can also purchase 3rd party hardware, AEM seems popular, to integrate into flash tunes, like Cobb. I dont have any personal experience with this but this is not the first platform to run methanol on flash tunes so its certainly do-able.

What I'm saying is, you dont need a Jb4 to get the gains you want.

Any tune using the same boost and similar ignition will make the same power with methanol or without methanol, there is no secret power in tunes. Keeping that in mind tunes should really be based on other benefits you find with them. All things equal (Air fuel Ignition Boost) they should make similar power.

Ok. Thanks for the info! I like the COBB so far, yet the convenience of the JB4 map switching is also very beneficial. And as Jon335iFL stated, the failsafe system with the JB4 and integrated meth kit will prevent any catastrophic issues from occuring. I spoke with Terry and he reccomended if I decided to stay with the COBB, that I would be running stage 2+ with meth non integrated. By the way things are looking, I may just end up getting a JB4 along with the integrated meth kit and then determining which I like best and possibly sell my COBB and stick with JB4 and Meth integrated. I also like that JB4 does not leave any codes /recording of info on the ECU and will prevent me from having any warranty issues in the future.

Well technically if you use the WW kit you have to cut the washer fluid line in two places.

Yes, but you can easily attain a coupler from home depot or the like and put it back in together and nobody would ever know otherwise

Do you notice a big difference when driving around town in map 1 vs COBB stage 1 aggressive?
