My 335 has a well too, and there is plenty of room under for the exhausts - the cans are at the side of the well.

Looking on RealOEM, the pictures of the boot insert for the single exhaust and twin exhaust systems look very similar, but they have different part numbers and the 335 insert costs twice as much...

I wonder if the 335 one comes with heat shielding etc to make it safe to run the exhaust?

The 335i boot floor is fully heatshielded underneath and it has a much smaller cubby hole under the floor.

This is to allow the cross link pipe between the standard backboxes., although the realoem pictures look the same they are not.

If you check the car specs, 335i/d have 10 litres less official bootspace than all other models, they must count the cubby hole in the total volume.

I have to agree, modifying a car just to fit an exhaust not intended to fit it is a daft idea, you could cause no end of issues for yourself. Try two separate silencers instead, will save you a headache in the long run I imagine.

Fit the exhaust to the car...Not the car to the exhaust.

If the company making the exhaust can't do the job right then don't use them!!!

Or...Just stick to a single exhaust.

It's fairly important to get on the good side of people if you want good advice.

I would try and stick to the BMW design as much as possible. Apparently there is now a BMW performance exhaust available which may suit your needs. Or you could just copy the layout.
