Misfire- Am I i the clear now?

CLIFFS:

Had a misfire code on cylinder 3
Replaced all spark plugs and code still showed up again with SES light
Swapped out coil pack 2 and 3 and the code followed over to cylinder 2
Replaced all coil packs

Started up the car and it idles rough again. The SES light also came on with the same code. Started driving the car and after the car had warmed up the car started running good again so I pulled over and cleared the code.

Did 1/2 hour worth of driving with several WOT pulls and usually the code would come back but it did not. So my question is was the car just adapting to the new coils and that is why it threw the SES at the initial startup after installation?

Anyone who has had experience with this please chime in.

Thanks!

If its gone now, why break your head over it.
If it comes back look into injectors, but for now enjoy the car.

Misfire monster never goes away, he just goes to sleep for a while. Hopefully, he will sleep for a long time.

Mine is beginning to wake up again...

Just took the car for another run and I am still getting the 29cf cylinder 3 misfire code. Can the cylinder 3 injector gone bad? Fresh plugs and coils...what i don't get is when i moved coil pack 3-2 the code followed to cylinder 2 so I replaced all coil packs.. is it possible that I got a bad new coil pack on the same cylinder?!?!

Just scored a couple of used injectors off flea bay for dirt cheap and going to swap out cylinder 3 injector and see if that works. Also purchased a coding cable off flea bay too if it is the injectors we will get practice removing and installing then I will pull the trigger on all 6 new injectors and learn how to code at the same time..

Oh.. btw... F@CK YOU MISFIRES!!!!

i think i read somewhere that used injectors are not a good idea, something about the injector pintle shouldn't be exposed for more than 15 minutes. Also, make sure you order new decoupling elements to replace with the injectors.

Thanks dude for the feedback... these are more like a test bed. If it takes care of my misfire problem but craps out within a few thousand miles I will then change them all with new ones and know how to do it without screwing up a new injector.

What year is your E90? have you checked with the dealer to see if any injectors would be covered under the recall? I think '08 and some '09 MY are affected. Nothing beats free, other than the techs not coding the injectors properly...

What tune are you using and what is the maximum boost ? Also, what RPMs did the misfires happen ? What is the boost at those RPMs ?

I have a Jb4 and the misfire happens with tune on or off. Happens on startup (the ses light will come on with shaking and the car idling like a freaking wrx). Sometimes it does not happen and i drive it around and all of a sudden sea light will Appear at normal cruising or at wot and even feathering the throttle. Car rattles and when i pull the code its the cylinder 3 misfire code.

If this thing starts becoming a money pit im going to trade it in for a new f30 335i or a e93 m3 (supercharged of course).

Could also be bad spark plugs or ignition coil. Hopefully the used injectors are still decent.
