PROcede auto tuning where are you?

I'm loving the aggressive maps but would really like to use auto tuning - tried the old one but don't really like it.

Does anyone know when this will be turned on again with the new maps?

It's going to be a little while. A few other things higher on the priority list that we are working ok first. It's coming though...

What didn't you like about it? You can use the user adjustibles in teh autotuning maps to custom tune it to your liking.

Shiv, are you going to be releasing a fix for the dreaded half engine light @ WOT with the aggressive maps?

I reverted back to the 7-29 maps for now. I really like the aggressive maps better though.

thanks!

Yes indeed. Have new beta maps now that should fix the issue that a few users were experiencing on the previous beta maps. If you'd like to try it, email me at shiv@vishnutuning.com and I can shoot it over to you. And on the dyno, it's worth 10-12whp over the previous aggressive map on our Stg2 6AT test car

Cheers,
shiv

To be honest I don't know that much (read: next to 0 about tuning) so Autotuning is really good for me - my understanding is that Autotuning will give you c90% of a car's potential.

I feel as though I'm leaving performance on the table with the aggressive map as I'm not clear on what all the user adjustables all do.

I have read easily over 100 posts but all have conflicting info where people rebutt each other....

It's a great product and i love what you get for the money but just want the best out of it.

One of the main reasons I got the procede was the line about it Autotuning and how the end user shouldn't have to muck around with tuning settings etc...

I see. Yes there definitely is a learning curve. I was in your shoes as well. I'm the least mechanically-inclined person on this site. I can't even tighten/loosen a bolt.

Like you, I tried to absorb as much as possible from the different threads. But sometimes that would leave me even more confused. I posted up some threads of my own and got a lot of help here. For the most part, people here are terrific and will be very helpful because many of us have been in your shoes.

You want to start by understanding the functionality of the Procede from the user manual:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=464460

Learning the ability to log, read/understand logs, and at a minimum the interplay between timing and boost:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=282443

And this is the most important "how to" thread related to the Procede that you should take time to read/understand:

Thanks very much. Great links!

I've read the ignition correction post previously but it says not to modify/play with it at this stage. That was some time ago - has this changed? This is where some of the confusing stuff I was referring to creeps up.

Also a lot of the posts are rev2 and v4 software - I have rev3 and v5 - does it still apply?

I've been playing with the boost target 0% and 100% and start boost in % and I can see how the car responds so getting really excited. I woul be really great if I could understand all the relationships between the variables at a high level.

Conscious that this may be akin to askin a surgeon to give you the high level view of how a heart works so you can do a transplant but thought I ask anyway

What would be great to know is what are commonly tested and well used user adjustable settings for the aggressive maps -

e.g

Fresh downloaded off the website 3-17 map, stage 1 for a stock car.

Start boost in% is 15 for each map is default - should these be 20 and 25, 25 & 35 etc... If I want more power? Should ignition correction be changed?

Should I leave the boost target 0% and 100% as is (default on 3-17map) and just adjust user adjustables or do I make some minor tweaks? Other than boost %, are there any other parts that I should adjust?

Drivability wise I'm looking for map 1 to be a bit more powerful than stock but keep same power curve and map 2 to be an all balls out map that I would use just for fun occasionally. Hope that makes sense - sorry for the long post!

If anyone can advise in this that would be great. I have a n54 6AT.

Glad to help. Before you change any variables, you should learn how to log and to read/interpret the log information. From there, you can start tweaking certain variables (small tweaks) and re-log to see whether the changes were beneficial.

The key is to make sure your timing stays solid, although given that you have a 6AT, you may suffer from a timing drop to zero temporarily right after you shift. It should recover back up to 8-10 near redline.

You can post them here. Here's how if you haven't done it before: when the log is open on your pc and the log is scaled correctly, do a "print screen" and paste it into a picture program like MS Paint. You can upload a .bmp file here for us and we can take a look for you.
