TERRIBLE fuel consumption 10mpg?!

Hi chaps just a quick one

Ive recently put up a post trying to find out the issue with my 335i thats stock. The engine missions warning light came on a while back, and it sounded very low and loud on a cold start (not complaining )

However my car is doing 10mpg currently....

Not sure what the issue is but apparently it could be any of the following:

Coil
Solenoid
Injectors
Pump etc

All i know is that my car is doing 10mpg it says. And im wondering does anyone have any idea what part could be causing my car to have such terrible mpg values?

No not a heavy foot, take it to the dealer

I get 23-25 mpg on a FBO car with a heavy foot.

Garage List

Similar thing happened to me quite recently, actually. It was the intake Vanos solenoid. Had both solenoids replaced under warranty and so far, so good. The first symptom was the half engine light/limp mode (out of nowhere, just came on one night with no other symptoms/warnings), followed by extra shitty gas mileage that persisted and got worse until I took it in to the dealership.

Is the car driving normally other than the gas mileage issue? Any misfiring, long cranks, etc? Have you gotten the code read?

Well if it's just a VANOS solenoid - OP just take them out, clean them off, and swap the exhaust with the intake. See if that fixes the issue before brining it in. Not sure if your 08 is under warranty or not, but that's an option.

Front of the engine on the DOHC, search for the DIY, it's super easy. Just don't drop one of the bolts in the empty hole when you remove the solenoid. Basically remove x2 8mm bolts on each solenoid, twist, and remove. To clean, I blew out with an air hose and used brake cleaner. You are supposed to replace the rubber o-ring, however, mine were in really good shape so I re-used it.

Here's the DIY:
