Ya it is normal - many people have been mentioning this. It has to do with the car's electrical system and how it checks the external bulbs for faults. Halogen bulbs take too long to turn on, which LED's are instant on/off. that is why they appear to flash on startup

Did you try leaving your DRL setting to on? I have the same car and the Lux H8 and never noticed any flickering.

I used a resistor and capacitor in parallel (did the calculations, as I'm an electrical engineer) and my LUX don't flicker anymore when I have my headlights turned to the Off position. Before, they would flicker like crazy and it bothered me a lot. Now they actually fade on & off a little bit when I use them.

I can't see the flicker with the naked eye, but when I tried to capture video of them after the install, it's clear in the video.

I would Highly recomend NOT doing this. the power supplies are highly regulated and tampering them will not only void your warranty on them, but it could also cause warning messages from the car.

I noticed this as well with the new LUX H8s...does this affect lifespan at all? Should I just turn on DRLs so this does not happen?

Its normal. its the car testing out the exterior lighting system for bad bulbs or malfunctions.

I have the LUX H8 and I think the flickering is pretty cool. It's perfectly normal. Don't worry, your LUX H8's and your car will be fine!

I have a 2011, just got and installed Lux H8 and noticed flashing upon start up.

I purchased from Bimmian and contacted them about this and was told it was normal.
