Louder Turbo Spool
I am trying to see if there is an option to have a louder turbo spool while retaining the stock exhaust sound? I used to drive an STi and all I would have to do is remove the silencer and you can hear the turbo spool. I also replaced the DP while keeping the CBE and that kept the stock exhaust sound while making the turbo spool even louder. As for now, besides replacing the DP, is there a way to make it so you are able to hear the turbo? I don't really want to do a silencer delete mod on the 335 as I heard of problems and doing it really don't change the sound, but if only ever so slightly.
Thanks. |

DCI = dual cone intake. Check out burgertuning.com to see what I mean.
The cowl is the plastic piece that covers the back part of the engine and seals against the hood. On dry days I guess you can remove this since there is no fear of water getting inside your engine bay at that point. This is not an every day solution. The DCI will probably give you the sound you are looking for. |

Downpipes and upgraded turbos will make the largest difference, DCI's just make that sucking intake sound more than anything.

Thanks idrift4wd and gtaccord. Does anyone have a picture of a cowl? I would like to remove it but don't know which part that is. I am also looking into a DCI and a DP too. I like the video with the turbo spool. That is just right, not too loud but noticeable. Is it distinct from outside the vehicle as well?

Step 2 - Take off battery rail (use a flathead) Step 3 - Remove x2 8 mm bolts It's easy and takes like 5 minutes, look for a PROcede/JB4 install DIY, it will show you on once of those.

If you take off the cowl keep in mind there is potential for water to reach the turbo's and other engine components too. I dont recommend it.
A simple dual cone intake would help with spool sound. DP's add a good spool sound too. Without a tune you wont hear much from either mod, you need that extra boost from a tune to get more sound. Last edited by Jeff@TopGearSolutions; 04-29-2012 at 01:38 PM.. |
