Question Chrome exhaust tips

Has anyone installed the BMW chrome exhaust tips on an '08 328i cabrio?
They are expensive. I want to get rid of the dull look of the factory original tips. No one at any dealership has been able to tell me how to install them. Do you remove the OEM tips or slide the new chrome tips over the OEM tips?

Buy dimisa stainless steel tips, chop off the stock ones, have a shop weld on the new ones. Do it right. Will cost the same dealer will rape you for sub par parts.

Have a pair of the oem chrome tips in my garage, but have not looked yet on how to install them on my e93. If it requires cutting or welding, I will just live with the dull silver tips on the car now.

The chrome tips I saw on bmw's website look like they fit over the stock and are held on by tightening a screw.

BTW, where it says you "Drive: <Insert Here>", the convertible is the E93.

I've got a 330, which has the chrome tips from the factory, and I really like them. I believe that they just slide on, and then you bang them on with a rubber mallet. (Because mine came with the car.)

The ones referenced by ndog14 are the ones you buy from the dealership or accessory catalog to put on later. They have a visible screw on the bottom (I've seen in pictures). If you go to the parts desk, they should be able to print out instructions for you (which they did for me when I got my mudflaps). They can also order the part for you and have it within a few days if not in stock.

I've only heard of aftermarket tips that require cutting and welding.

My E91 exhaust tips just slide on and off (held in place with a couple of flat springs). I think the E93 has the same tips, just had them on as OE about six months earlier. So just (with a little force) slide them off and slide on the new ones. The aftermarket ones usually come with from one to three bolts or set screws to hold them on.

While you have your old ones off and are deciding if the new ones look good, why not paint your old ones black?
