Battery in car key dying
Hello all,
I have to now use my spare key and hopefully it works. In the mean time.....do I only have a dealership option to get they key replaced/re-programmed? I also have comfort access so maybe some re-programming might be needed. |

Is it completely dead? Just buy a battery at the source if it isn't. If it is dead, the dealer has to reprogram the key.

Same happened to me a while back. Just get a replacement battery CR2032 (will cost you about $10 at Walmart, Shoppers). Once you replace the battery in the key fob you'll need to insert the fob in ignition and you should be good to go (as far as I remember no reprogramming needed). Hope this helps

Go to "The Source" dude. They have a free replacement policy if the battery they sell you dies before a year.

Will be closed today as it's a holiday in Canada. (assuming you are currently here)
Very easy. Just use a flat head screwdriver after you remove the key from the fob. |

![]() Thx....I'll go to the store tomorrow and do the surgery on the Fob. Interesting trivia -- the backup key had the old owner's preferences of satellite radio stations and temp display (in Farhenheit) and mpg for fuel consumption set in there. |

Yes. You see a key with a battery showing bars of power being depleted.
No error message. |

just take out the key from the remote and use the tip of the key to lift the back cover. the size of the tip fits perfectly with the back cover opening |
