If you've got the money to spend, I'd say this is a good opportunity to upgrade to the 335is radiator fan

I'm going to work on getting the FMIC in this morning. My fear is that now with the lip cut off it is going to sit flat against the back of the FMIC and prevent airflow through. If if doesn't it will still leave a gap that would essentially create a leak path for air so that when the fan runs the air doesn't need to come through the FMIC.
What is the is fan shroud improvement?

The only issue in your case is will it get hotter than where i plan to use it. I plan to use this on the front duct shroud guiding air into the intercooler. You are using behind and it may get hotter. I am sure if this is not rated high enough temp then you could use a similar higher temp rated product to accomplish the same thing or just straight high temp tape. here is what I am talking about: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...&storeId=10051 Good Luck Last edited by N54_Fan; 07-01-2012 at 11:23 AM.. |

Well, I got the FMIC in finally. Ended up trimming a fair amount away on the front end, but it does fit. Haven't put the bumper back on yet, that will need to wait until after a little time with the family.
I think I am going to try and find a shroud and get that back in vs going a DIY route. Thanks to everyone for their help.

Can anyone out there tell me what is involved in replacing the fan shroud? I am out of town (away from the Bently
manual) but would like to order up a new shroud to be able to put in when I get home later this week. I am really hoping it is as simple as just pulling the unit out the top and swapping the fan from the old to new shroud. I don't want to have to tear into the cooling system to get it out. Also, still looking for a good deal on a used one if anyone has one lying around. Thanks
