SoCal TRACK DAY!: Streets of Willow 7/28-29. BMW Xtreme!

Price is $85 for July 28th running from 9am to 3:30PM.

Then there is a Twilight (no not the book or sparkling vampires...) event from 4pm to Midnight, and Willow is providing professional track lights. The price is 115 with discount code twilight2, but you must register early/mid july. Otherwise the price is listed at $130 on their web site.

July 29th is a from 9am to 5pm, price is $110, but with discount code Sow15, it's only $95

If you have any questions, please email them... I will try to help out when I can, but I don't have technical/specific answers:

sung@extremespeedtrackevents.com

Also, the events fill up fast and I get people texting/calling/emailing/PMing me about seeing if there are any openings.... I don't know as I don't work for them. You need to email them and ask.

Registration link: http://www.extremespeedtrackevents.c...t-registration

There will be Free Timing and Free lunch (or dinner) for ALL drivers who register, as well as Free Basic on track instruction for beginners

Couple photos from previous events: (I suck at taking pics so sorry if they're crappy)

I am personally going to go on the Saturday as that is the Twilight event.
RSVP'd Yes: 1
RSVP sign-ups for this event are now closed.

I was originally planning the morning session, but being that I am 2 hours away, the "night" session may be better.

How does insurance work at these type of events btw? I've done a bunch of driving schools, but this would be my first track day with my own car

You can look into getting private track insurance.

As long as you don't get timing and you're not in a competition, some insurance companies will still cover you, but it's best to call them and ask

IIRC, Progressive and Farmers do, but I don't have either of them so I've only heard about it.

As long as you're aware of your surroundings, don't drive arrogant and think you're faster than the miatas/civics cause you have a BMW (Cause you won't be faster than them if they have an experienced driver lol, I learned this out the hard way), and go there to simply have fun and enjoy yourself, it'll be fine.

I suggest intermediate if you have track experience. If you didn't, I would say do beginner.
You can always change your level throughout the day

It's not so much myself I am worried about, I feel like I know my car and its abilities pretty well. It is others that I am worried about. Is there open passing at these events?

ah but if one is careful of his surroundings (if someone is on your ass, let him pass cause he's faster than you; if you're on someone's ass and they're being an ass and not giving you a point by, then back off and make room, or go back into the hotpit and tell the starter guy you want more room + report that a-hole) you shouldn't have issues. I know what you mean though . I was pretty scared when I first started tracking.

Open passing is allowed in Super Advanced/Advanced groups. I don't suggest you run with them if you're not used to having open passing and possible dive bombs.
Intermediate is point by passing.

I haven't run beginner in forever so I don't remember...but my guess is point by only on the straights.
