Advised by the dealer that 60+ intermittent slight vibration on steering wheel is do too wheels(style#161) being bent. All four wheels identified to be bent, but no tire (RFTs) damage noticeable. Is this possible? Tires/wheels have been driven for nearly three yrs.
Any input? Last edited by JLE90X10; 08-28-2012 at 12:08 AM.. |

I believe they attempted and thats when they identified all four wheels being bent, but not visually noticable. They tried to get me to purchase four wheels, since tire protection warranty does not cover damaged wheels if not caused by a tire fault. The infamous fine fine print.... Will decid on wether to get rims fixed or purchase new ones.
Thanks for the responses. |

I bent a wheel once so badly I had to throw it away but miraculously the tire was fine. Hit a major hole in Nashville (known for bad highways) on I-24 at 75. I was blessed that day, by the damage to the rim I should have had a blow out in going home traffic. But to answer your question, yes the tire survived.

I have a bent rim sitting my garage that looks brand new - NO DAMAGE. Tried to have it Road Force Balanced and it was outside the tolerance so it could not be balanced. Now I think I have another perfectly good looking wheel on my car that is also bent.

Happens all the time, especially with low profile tires. If it's the inside edge of the wheel, then many times you can't even notice that it's bent. It happened several times on my Mercedes and a couple Audis.
