Take a flaslight and look at the underside of the belt (the ribbed side) and look for cracks perpendicular to the belt ribs. The belt drive system will make a chirping sound if the bearings in any of the pulleys are going bad.

Post a video or recording of the noise. I had mine replaced about 2 months ago. The belt itself doesn't make noise, but it could be worn bearings in the idler pulley. Is it less noticeable once the car is warmed?

I had the same noise from bearings at 0:02. Not the same "Cutting" noise on top, but its probably just your belt. Parts were abt $325 shipped from getbmwparts. I do have a e92(N52), I'd check with the guys at getbmwparts first to make sure the parts are the same.
Here is a link to a similar DIY; http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=627158 |
