Long term reliabilitly with turbos is just not there. Look at all of the aging VW/Audi 1.8t's with over 100,000 miles on them and you'll see quite a few problems. One's that were properly maintained by their owners are normally ok (including properly cooling the turbine-bearing after hard runs). However, the vast majority of turbo owners out there don't have a clue about oil coking problems and how carbon deposits clog up turbo oil lines, leading to eventual turbo failure. This is exactly why you've never seen a factory Honda with a turbo (with the exception of their diesel motors where they didn't have much choice). They refuse to put something on their cars that they cannot guarantee will last as long as the rest of the car.

true, but they are on low displacement, 4 cylinder engines, or in the case of M-B, on their AMG models. IS, G, TL, A4 3.2, C350, all NA. Saab and Volvo may be packing a turbo, again because they have nothing bigger.
Being that a large percentage of 3 buyers see this as an 'entry-level luxury' car, 'turbo' gives the wrong image. |

Turbo won't do any harm imo. At last, if they do put turbo in, they won't advertise like Evo or STi commercial with FMIC showing and saying "turbocharged" for 10 times. it'll probably be subtle add on feature type of thing.

i dont agree, especially since turbocharging a 370z at what the stock motor can handle usually yields around 450whp
