I wonder how much more it will be than a 330i?

If I was BMW Marketing, I would sell it standard with an M sports pack and all the exclusive pack items - make it like a mini-M3 (And I would call it the 333i or T3 (Turbo 3?/ Tripple 3?) <- That has always been my dream.

He says he thinks its going to be difficult to sell because its going to be very expensive.

He says the 330i and 330d arnt selling as well as they had hoped, but 325i is selling beter than anyone imagined

That's because the 325i (with similar performance to the old 330i) and MORE than enough power for anyone here costs under R300k basic...which means you can "spec" it quite well for 330-350k.

The 330i and even worse 330d START at over 350k - so with some options you are looking closer to 400k. In my mind, 400k for the 3 Series is ALOT. You're then into that massive deprectiation bracket.

325i is good value for money, plain and simple. When I bought my car, it was only R15000 more - the only issue being a 6 month waiting period (because 325i's started production in June)

Basically, the 335i will come in just under 400k, so with options you're into 450k - bearing in mind...that power is practically not needed- so unless I have some cash to dump...why buy? Also, you're into that huge depreciation bracket again.

BMW is just releasing the model to keep up with the power strugle...to "compete" with Merc C350.

You lucky dogs. Given the 'expensive' comment, it sounds like the turbo is a temporary stop gap for the M3.
Any hint of an SA delivery plan like ED? My wife will be in J'berg for a conference next week -- any advice on fun stuff to do? I think she is stuck at the Sunnyside by Wits'.

In the American market, I think there would be a real problem gapping the 325i and the 335i. In my opinion three engine sizes would be overkill, yet abandoning just the 330i would put the 25 and 35 at odds. There would be no sweet spot for buyers.

I think BMW will upgrade the 25 to 28 and the 30 to 35, then everyone's happy. Not to mention with Audi 4 cylinders easily hitting the $40K mark, a 335i Turbo would not be a hard sell for $43-50K, at least in the States.

I think for NA, the 335 will position itself between the 330i and the upcoming M3. It will be considerably more expensive than the 330i.

The dealer believes it will be between 330i and M3

The 335i btw 330 and M3 makes perfect sense for the Euro market, but the NA market is an enigma.

This is definitely not unexpected news, but my mouth still waters at the thought of a turbo 3 series.. wonder how much tuning potential it'll have. Now, the big question.. what will the US market get.. can't wait to find out!

I still think that they won't drop 330i, and the new line up for 07 in US will be: 325i, 330i, 335i (coupe & sedan), and 08 (or sometime in 07) they will add M3. So, 335i will fill in the gap between 330i and M3. I think that they will price 335i in the range of 50K and the new M3 will be in the range of 65K.

Where's Speedfreak - he has opposing information for all of this. There is going to be a rebadge - although I personally don't think it's a good idea.

From what I've heard here, and elsewhere, there will be a re-introduction of the saloon (4 door) M3 in 2008. Yes, it'll be a wait, and yes it'll be bloody expensive...but well worth every minute/penny.

Coincidentally, it should be available just as the lease runs out on my 330i

My dealer tells me that they are going to make a 355 with the supercharged 4.8l V8 that will produce 400hp and 400ft-lb of torque. It will be paired with an 8sp manual, LSD, and staggered 19" wheels/tires for maximum performance. Best of all, it will cost you only $30k fully loaded...

Ill believe the 335 when I see an official release from BMW
