I have decided that I am going to get a PE for my LCI 335i 2009. Do I need to buy it and get it installed at a BMW dealership to not void the warranty? Anyone have any experience with this? I do not want to void warranty at all. Also where is a good place to buy the exhaust for a good price?

Dont be scared of the dealer. Remember you paid a lot for your car, they need to treat you with respect.
No issue getting it installed at any shop. Tischer (getbmwparts.com) has good prices |

Im not sure if my Dealer (New Century) fed me crap or not...but they said that BMW Performance parts have to be installed by the dealer to maintain warranty due to the fact that other shops may have screwed up on the install. I would check with your dealer just to be on the safe side. Could just be my dealer was trying to make money off of me.

If you are worried, just get it installed from dealer.
Usually, dealer doesnt care if your performance parts is installed by them or independent shop when doing general maintenance. Obviously, your bmw pe wont be covered under warranty if not installed by bmw but rest of car will be still covered under warranty unless they can prove that installation of pe caused that specific problem. Personally, I would save money and get it installed from reputable independent shop. There isnt really anything that can go wrong with axleback install. |

Just buy it and and get it installed by an INDY, or do it yourself. They cannot void your warranty for the part or other parts, but they probably will not cover any install errors. Then again, it is so easy who could screw up the install ???

its against the law for them to void your warranty unless they can prove whatever is wrong with your car was caused by a bad install. but if you want to be safe just let them install it. it shouldnt be too much
