AWE DV vs. Forge DV
Hey guys, I am on the fence on whether to get the AWE dv/bov or the Forge DVs. I'm running Cobb Stage 2 with intake and i also have a Stett CP installed with my stock divertors. My main question is are there any benefits of one over the other? ANy opinions/inputs would be great, thanks.

To me this is a reactive mod- I've been on the stock DVs for 75000 miles with a greater majority of those miles at high boost and have never had a problem.
Seems that more people use forge than the other alternative |

The only real "benefit" of AWE over Forge is the option to run the AWE as either vented/BOV or recirc/DV (only a benefit if that option matters to you). I went with AWE and I've been happy with them. They are both solid products.

These valves are built very differently. The Forge uses a lubricated sliding piston design with a metal to metal seal. The AWE uses a diaphragm and a rubber to metal seal which is a similar style to the OEM valve.
You will have to pull the Forge unit apart periodically to clean and lubricate it whereas the AWE is maintenance free and probably provides a better seal due to the soft seat. Since there are 2 DVs on this platform, there is plenty of flow capacity so that's not really an issue between these two units, so probably not a consideration when making your decision. Oh... With a bit of work, I was able to fit the stock recirculation hoses onto the AWE valve and run that way without any issues. Last edited by GoodtoGo; 10-22-2012 at 04:08 PM.. |

I would think from an engineering standpoint the Forge DV's are superior, but if you want the BOV sound then AWE is for you. I have not heard of maintenance requirements for the Forge DVs. Yes, there is lubrication and its piston driven, but another plus is you have options for the spring rate.

The forge are much better high quality and wont be prone to leaking like oem or oem style.
Also should be noted I run forge DV as BOV. I wanted some noise- as DV they sound almost same as stock. As Bov- They are incredibly loud when you want them to be and can also be silent based on your driving methods. |

I have both Forge DVs and the AWE BOV. I have the AWE in right now and my forge DVs in my trunk. I feel like the AWE gives off a slightly louder sound. But other than sound, there is not difference between them two.

Nope, it just comes with the filters to prevent debris from going in.

I've installed both. This is not true: they are both extremely well made. It's down to what style you like as mentioned above. The piston type may need periodic lubrication as mentioned above and are very durable. We (Helix) also have a piston-type kit which should also be considered.
