oil housing question

Hey guys just wanted to see if someone can chime in and tell me what goes on this hole. Its tjreaded so I would assume a bolt def goes there. I have just now realized it is missing don't remember if it was missing before my last oil change (2 weeks ago). Could someone tell me what goes there and what's its function?
