Wanting to order my first BMW...
Evenin' everyone!
My first post here, but been lurking for a while now. I'm ready to order an '08 328i Coupe for the missus, so I've been doing my research and have decided on the following options: '08 BMW 328i Coupe Automatic Transmission Black Metallic Paint Sport Package I'm ready to jump on it, but no dealer I'm speaking to is willing to move on the price. I'm seeing a lot of people on this board speak of ordering vehicles at $500-$1,000 over invoice. Am I just trying to order at a bad time? And if so, when would be a better time to negotiate? Thanks in advance! ![]() |

i think that a 328 should be easier to negotiate since its not the 335 but it is a lower priced car so they wont take off as much. i would order it now and u will get an 08 version. the price will keep goin up and up of u wait too long. hope to see u more here. especially if u order that car. it is an awesome color combo

Thanks for the welcome E92man. I was hoping that since it was a 328i it would be easier to haggle on the price, but no dice so far.
I was hoping to hear that perhaps around Christmas time it might be a good time to buy, but apparantly it will only get tougher to have the dealership come down on the price the longer I wait? I must find out how everyone is getting their cars for $500 above invoice!!! |

$ over invoice
Before I decided on ED, I was able to get a local dealer to offer up an '07 335xi for 600$ over invoice. Didn't have a exact car I wanted. I asked him about ordering an '08, and they wouldn't even come *close* to anything like that. I think they're more willing to stick to their guns on brand new first-month '08s, considering they're not here yet.
ED, on the other hand, is a different story. Huge savings on the american-vs-ED invoice, *and* the dealer was willing to accept less profit due to the fact that the ED doesn't count against their allocation of cars for that month. I wholeheartedly recommend ED. |

I think that the dealers are not moving bc they know a lot of people are waiting fo the 08's to come out (like me). I bet that if you give it a few months, you can get a sweet deal on the 328 especially when the demand "slightly" dies down. Take a look at the "what are people paying for e92" thread...and you can see what kind of deals people were getting in like october - december of 06...they were getting better deals back then, than the people that ordered in march or april of 07. I think the fuel pump problem cause a shortage in supply, but last yr..lots of people were getting some pretty sweet deal before the fuel pump disaster

There are no coupes or cabs to be had for '08 with such big discounts at least here in Illinois...the best way to save on these is through ED,you can order from anyone in the country.

If all else fails, you can consider doing ED or looking outside of your immediate vicinity. Though this 2nd option may, unfortunately, make future service visits more difficult.

I took the advise of some members and called Garlyn Shelton: was able to get $400 off MSRP without raising a fuss.
At least it's something! |

Qualitatively speaking, the situation was similar in Oct. 06. The coupe had only been in customers' hands for about what, 1 to 1 1/2 mos.? I was getting that list price thing. So I punched 10017 into edmunds.com, and about 6 dealerships contacted me immediately, of course none had a car for immediate delivery, but the prices ranged from $1100 to $1800 off, just like that. From reading the forum, my goal was to get as close to $1800 off list AND get a production number that day. That eliminated all but two dealers. In the end, the dealer 4 miles from my house said you don't have to go to New York to get $1700 off, we'll do the same.
I'm just reiterating what worked for me--edmunds.com seemed to save a lot of BS and cut to the chase. Just think--if a dealership is going to follow up on a lead through edmunds, what shot do they have of making a sale if they come back with list, when their competitors are trying to sell every coupe they get by discounting when necessary? |

Keep searching and don't limit yourself to local dealers. Try ones outside of large metropolitan areas.
Send emails out stating exactly what you want, when you want to order and take delivery, and what you'll pay. I'm sure you'll get a few bites.
