what egr kit?
I'm going to bypass my egr on my 2006 330d m57 231bhp engine any of you who have done this mod to your m57 330d and what egr kit did you fit?
I have seen some on ebay but they are mostly for the e46 although there is one stainless steel kit which looks very good but the buyer has some bad feedback so I'm reluctant to commit to buying, any help with this would be appreciated. Last edited by oldbilly; 02-04-2013 at 11:41 AM.. |

I can only see one on ebay, and the poor feedback seems to be from people who bought the wrong part.
For the £30ish he's charging, worth a try anyway? If it's no good you can always refit the old one...

Never quite understood why everyone is buying blanks for EGR's and then paying money to have them coded out.
Does not just pulling the vacuum hose off the actuator and plugging the hose do the same thing ????? |

Yes, but it will also most likely throw up an error code.

UPDATE on the ebay egr I have been in contact with the seller who confirms this one will fit the M57 engine so I will go ahead and buy it. |

Cool. Look forward to seeing if it fits, and whether you need any coding afterwards. I'll be doing an EGR delete too, but if it needs coding I'll wait till I have the DPF removed and get it all done at once.

so it goes on, I have looked at my EGR and its different from the EGR bypass I bought, my engine has a MAF in front of the EGR, i'm a little confused as to what engine is fitted, I have scoured the internet searching for m5730d specs and I have come up with two engines, my car is a March 2006 330d e91 the engines 2005-2008 M57TU2D30 231BHP and the later engine M57D30 0 245BHP looking at the pics my engine looks like it maybe the later one, perhaps someone can help here, below is a few pics of my EGR set up and apart from the reg doc, where will I find the engine number.

It's not a maf in front it's a throttle flat, all diesels with a dpf have a throttle flap. If you blank egr I think you will get a fault code. As the dde will notice no change in air flow with egr open or closed! I'm fairly sure on the last statement. But the peice in front is a throttle flap or valve. Used to regenerate the dpf

Its the anti run on valve. Does what it says on the tin. On your engine it is also used to regulate airflow so it can force more egr. I think you said stan mapped yours out so it shouldnt do anything until you switch off the engine. You have the 231 btw. The maf is on the air filter outlet. If you disable the egr and the ecu requests it. The ecu compares what it expects to see flowing through the maf with what is actually passing. If egr is blanked then the maf will be flowing more as the engine air consumption is the same but now it isnt getting any egr. If the two numbers diverge by a certain amount it knows there is something wrong. Ive written that so many times. In your case its been mapped out so no worries.
