so let me get this straight--for the key memory to work (meaning move the seats) i have to use the 2nd key, move the seats, lock the doors, and then unlock the car using the 1st key?

excuse my ignorance, but can the pathway lighting (leaving the lights on after turning it off) programmable on Pre-sept build cars? I am aware that this has to be done at the dealership for me...

I can't program all the stuff you guys are talking about. When I use the stalk to get to the "key and check mark" all I can change is the temp scale and the clock and time, etc. Can't set lights, etc...
Is this a software issue? My car is brand new....

Good stuff, Sarafil thanks! Moocow, did push in the Start/Stop button after inserting the key? Hope that helps! And yay, for DRL, make the car look much cooler with foglights on.

I believe you can only have them turned on via a software update and then having a BMW Tech turn the program on. I maybe wrong. Someone with a pre-Sept. build E90 would be better to answer this. |

Please note that this is not a "my x3 doesn't have idrive hahaha", but more a "oh no, I'll be damned when my X3 lease ends and I'll be forced to have an iDrive on the next car". I'm sure that if every unsatisfied BMW driver would go to bmw and said "we even like the idrive and everything, thank you, but please take this bill gates out of the system and use something more stable like linux embedded". I'm sorry for being off-topic. So, to get back on topic, let me say that there are plenty of settings available to configure on the keys of pre-idrive cars - the manual has a list of everything, spread through all pages -, and those are much more than the official "form" available via google search. I'm glad most of those settings can now be configured by the owner himself via the navigation system, but I wonder how many of them are available...

AHA! I'm stoked, I think this resolves my question on how to change these programmable functions. Now if only I could find a thread that details what can be changed and what the options are... or maybe I'll to do it!
