washer jets blocked!!
Think I have the dreaded washer jets blocked, they are just dribbling out. Been reading some posts and sounds a propper ball ache to unblock them. Anyone done this recently?

Unlikely to be blocked jets. Much more likely to be blocked pump filter. Do a search, there's a DIY guide somewhere...

Yes that's the one. Isn't that tricky if you have the time and tools. Clean both the filter for windscreen and also headlight washers if you have them. Then fill up with BMW screen wash.

If its just a limescale / hard water blockage you could try crumbling up a Calgon tablet in washer filler. Many people swear by this, just make sure you move the jets away from the car so you don't get the Calgon all over your windscreen!

For some people the Calgon tablet works or works for a while, if the filter is blocked there is only one answer and personally I would be worried about putting strong chemicals down those thin plastic pipes and components.

If it is lime scale. Use citric acid. Dissolve some in hot water and pour it in and leave for 15 mins. Empty your washer jets and rinse through with some fresh water. Might be a good idea to have a hose pipe to rinse the car off of any citric acid as the jets are being used.
Put some citric acid in your kettle or veg steame an the elements will look like new after. I do this with my washing machine too without the clothes in. |

Had a go at this today, took the wheel and inner arch out, pulled the bottle out, removed the filter which was clogged up with gunk, then gave the bottle a good flush out with the hose pipe and lots more crap came out of the bottle. Put it all back together and they work brilliant now. Job done!

It's a good feeling when you have completed the job by cleaning it out properly as you know the problem is sorted. With a calgon I think I would always be waiting for it to come back.
