limp mode occurred 4 times yesterday?! (procede 1.45)
yes, it was really hot around 108 in Pasadena. however, my oil temp never went higher than 270 degrees (I was cruising and of course had the A/C on). I was basically in the 260-270 degree range the whole time (no oil cooler installed).
1. anyway, limp mode came on. 2. exited off the freeway and shut down and restarted the motor. limp mode did not clear. 3. drove another 5 minutes. shut off and restart. limp mode cleared BUT came on 1 minute later. 4. got food and left the fast food joint (limp mode was cleared) but came on again after 2-3 minutes. 5. reached my destination and car was off for at least 5 hours. when heading back home around 6pm (still above 100 degrees) car never went into limp mode (about a 45 min drive home). I have Procede 1.45. any ideas what caused this? prior to this, it's been about a month since my last limp mode. |

hmm...one thing i forgot to mention before all of these limp modes...I got gas at a 76 gas station that i've never been too before. of course, i pumped 91 but i bet it was because of that.
keep in mind that I haven't had a limp mode occur in well over a month and it's been well over 100 degrees for the past week. and all of a sudden I get 4 limp modes w/in 1 hour. has to be the gas! not gonna waste my time w/ 1.47 yet...gonna wait for v2 and never go back to that gas station again. |

As others have said, v1.45 exhibited this problem at times on a few cars. It had to do with some fuel economy saving techniques we were using during cruise conditions. They helped mpg a tick but sometimes induced a random misfire code at a certain rpm/load combination (cruise, in particular).
This was fixed a few months ago with the release of v1.47. Cheers, shiv |

We've had similar heat (107-110) here in Phoenix all summer and I had one limp mode the day after I installed the PROcede (V1.47), in a high gear, midrange RPM WOT. A boost target missed or possible misfire no doubt, since I had heard a knock or two. Anyway I shutdown and reset and it never came back. Since then I have been running 93+ octane and driving it HARD with no problems whatsoever since then.
I wouldn't wait to install V1.47, if you're having any issues whatsoever, brave the heat and upload that map ASAP... ![]()

there is something that 100+ degree heat does to this car... one odd thing is that the oil temp is actually LOWER... like the oil cooler stays open at all times, and keeps it down at 220-230, where on a cool day, it sits at 230-240, because the cooler circuit is closed maybe? or it could be something else...
the other thing I noticed is that the heat seems to cause LIMP mode while cruising or even slowly accellerating, even with 1.47 I have seen it, but only in the extreme heat, and not really during WOT... the limp mode SSTT thread was during high heat too... |

Funny enough, it happen to me 2 times going to work and once comming home on the same day with the hottest temps this summer at 93!!!! Other people have temps over 100 and no problems! Hmmmmm!
![]() Next day I got NOS octan booster and filled up as usual with BP. I thought it might be a problem with heat and octan. Anyway it didn't come back. Just a week ago after I filled up the tank, same gas, after a couple of minutes around 2000rpm reduced power came back! WTF now! Checked with c-reader nothing. Now I realised always after I got fuel everything was ok. This time not! I removed the gas tank filler cap and put some fuel on the gasket to make it seal better. The freakin light never came back! Have procede since 9000 miles and v1.47lbt. Question for Shiv: Does the filler cap have an influence on the engine control when it is not tight? Last edited by 6Zylinder; 09-09-2007 at 02:25 AM.. |

No, your error is because you only waited 30 seconds for the ECU to go into sleep mode before you installed the SSTT. The errors described in this thread are completely different and relatively infrequent but fairly ubiquitous for the piggyback equiped cars.
